Its element is earth, and its metal is lead. It is ruled by the planet Saturn. This chakra gives stability and grounding, and rules over the survival and basic instincts. The base chakra gives us the will to survive, and the sense of security. Anger and rage emanate from this chakra, thus the phrase "seeing red."
